In the broader community the collective aims to raise public consciousness for women and children living in crisis.

Together at Christmas

It’s not a song, it’s a movement.

Irish Women In Harmony return with their eagerly awaited festive season single, ‘Together At Christmas’.

The original song was written and produced by RuthAnne, with all parts recorded remotely by 30 of Ireland’s finest female musicians. ‘Together at Christmas’ features a clever use of familiar Christmas song lyrics and also includes a choir of young Irish girls after a call out was made to the next generation of aspiring female singers.

Earlier this year, Irish Women In Harmony made a nationwide call out in search of singers for a ‘Tween Choir’ that would feature the voices of Irish girls under the age of 12, as part of the Christmas single. Over 1,500 entries were received from across the country, which was narrowed down to 50 semi-finalists and lastly, the lucky 18 were chosen. Like all other members of IWIH, the children recorded their parts for the song remotely and sent them to RuthAnne, who put it all together like only she can. This choir of next generation voices was an integral part of magic around creating the single. Through lending their voices to the track, these young Irish women have had both the opportunity to be a part of Irish Women In Harmony, and the opportunity to support their fellow children through Childline.

An inspired cover of The Cranberries ‘Dreams’, re-worked and recorded remotely by some of Ireland’s finest female artists in aid of Safe Ireland, the national social change agency working to end domestic abuse and coercive control in Ireland.

Irish Women In Harmony are some of Ireland’s most talented and accomplished musicians, together amassing over 200 million Spotify streams.
The single had its first play on 2FM’s Tracy Clifford show and the video premiered on The RTE Six O’Clock News on Thursday 18th June.

Grammy nominated singer/songwriter and producer of this cover version RuthAnne came up with the initiative and said, "There are so many amazing trailblazers and emerging female artists and musicians in Ireland. In what sometimes seems like a male dominated industry in this country, we feel like it’s important to inspire the young girls of today by showcasing all of the incredible women in Irish music. More importantly, we wanted to come together as the Irish Women in Harmony to raise awareness and funds for a charity close to all of our hearts, Safe Ireland, who support domestic abuse victims and survivors.
